Cloud Flash: In-depth Disassembly & Play Guide

Even if you mentally prepare yourself in advance, you might still be amazed by its design. It has a translucent main body that allows you to clearly see the buckyballs inside. The mechanical clicking sound combined with the strong vibration of the buckyballs makes the first contact a delightful surprise. Now, let's learn everything from disassembly to how to play, helping you fully unlock the fun of this little gadget.

1. Cloud Flash Disassembly Tutorial: 3 Steps to See Its Internal Structure

To fully experience Cloud Flash, you first need to understand its internal layout. The disassembly steps are simple, even for beginners:

  1. Step 1: Remove end screws and take out the magnet part
First, unscrew the screws at both ends of the Cloud Flash. You can then directly remove the " Lower cover for adsorbing buckyballs." At this point, the parallelogram shaped Middle post the Cloud Flash’s core innovative design will be clearly exposed; it’s what enables the Buckyballs’ movement later.
  2. Step 2: Examine the core component: the Middle post
The Middle post’s role is to make the Buckyballs move in circles along the track, which sets it apart from ordinary toys. The default factory configuration includes a "smooth Middle post," and the accessories also come with a "Segmented Middle post" (used in later play mode).
  3. Step 3: Unscrew the Middle post and open the mechanical structure
Unscrew the two screws on the Middle post, and you can lift the mechanical structure below. Inside is a positioned by beads, with a confirmation groove at the end this is where the mechanical feedback comes from.

2. Cloud Flash Core Structure: 4 Components for All Play

After disassembly, you’ll find the Cloud Flash’s structure is clear, consisting of 4 core components, each with an irreplaceable role:

  • Base plate: Holds the spring and positioning beads, serving as the foundation of the mechanical structure.
  • Middle track plate: Provides the movement track for Buckyballs and mechanical parts; the Dense track and end groove ensure feedback.
  • Parallelogram Middle post: The core innovation that controls the Buckyballs’ movement path (circular motion). It comes in two types: "smooth" (factory default) and "Segmented" (accessory).
  • Lower cover: Magnetic (to attract Buckyballs) and translucent (for observing internal movement), Do not handle it roughly; otherwise, the magnet in the center of the lid may fall off.

3. Cloud Flash Play: From Basic to Advanced

The fun of the Cloud Flash lies in its "DIY potential" different combinations create totally different hand feels and sounds. Below are classic play options for beginners and advanced users alike:

1. Basic Play: Pure Magnet Mode (Simulate "Chambering Sound")

For a fresh magnetic feedback experience, try pure magnet play:
First, remove the internal spring and positioning beads, then replace the Buckyballs with column-shaped magnets. Pushing it produces a crisp sound similar to "chambering" completely different from the factory default (mechanical + Buckyballs) mode. The hand feel is lighter, and the sound is cleaner.

2. Advanced Play: Buckyballs + Segmented Middle post + Intense Tremors

Replace the default Middle post with the Segmented one (from accessories), then pair it with Buckyballs of different sizes for layered feedback:

  • With 4.8mm Buckyballs, the feedback sound is deeper.
  • Switching to 4mm Buckyballs makes the sound crisper and the tremors more delicate.
You can even stack a 3mm Buckyball on top of a 4mm one immediately getting a new sound and touch. Every push brings a different feedback, full of freshness.

3. Mechanical Play: Replace the Spring for Stable Hand Feel

If you prefer the damping feel of pure mechanics, focus on the mechanical part:
Replace the factory’s soft spring with a 2.535mm gold-plated spring. After adjustment, the hand feel becomes very stable (no extra shaking), perfect for players who like "precise feedback."

(Note: The factory’s soft spring is designed by the official to highlight "magnetic play." For mechanical feel, we recommend a harder spring.)

4. Personal Recommended Combinations

After testing various setups, here are two combinations I highly recommend—they balance hand feel and fun, ideal for beginners:

Recommendation 1: Mechanical + Smooth Middle post + Buckyballs

Adjust the mechanical damping with beads, then pair it with the factory’s smooth Middle post and Buckyballs. This lets you enjoy the smoothness of a traditional "Slider" while adding Buckyballs’ tremor feedback—it combines the best of two toys, great for daily stress relief.

Recommendation 2: Default Mechanical Setup + Column-shaped Magnets (Chambering Mode)

Keep the factory’s mechanical structure (soft spring + Dense track), then add column-shaped magnets (from pure magnet play). Compared to pure magnet mode, this combination has a stronger "chambering feel": not only does the damping increase, but the mechanical part also simulates a "bolt-pulling" feedback. Every push has a clear "confirmation feel," perfect for players who like strong interaction.

5. Advanced DIY: Don’t Ignore the "Small Magnet Pieces" in Accessories

Many people overlook the "small magnet pieces" in the accessory pack, but they’re key to unlocking more play. Here are two practical DIY ideas:

  1. Stack Small Magnets + Buckyballs: First stack 2 small magnet pieces, then place Buckyballs on top. When pushed, the Buckyballs move in sync with the small magnets, strengthening the magnetism—you’ll get a more intense "trembling chambering feel."
  2. Extend Column-shaped Magnets with Small Magnets: Stick small magnets to both ends of a column-shaped magnet to make it longer. This keeps the column-shaped magnet upright during movement (avoiding scratches on the Segmented Middle post’s grooves) while creating "Segmented feedback" for a more layered chambering feel.

6. Notes: Take Care of Parts for Longer Use

❣️ Finally, here are four tips to avoid ruining your experience:

  1. Don’t be rough during disassembly or play—small parts (like Buckyballs and small magnet pieces) are easy to lose. It’s best to store them in a small box.
  2. When using the "Segmented Middle post + Column-shaped Magnets" play, keep the column-shaped magnet upright to avoid scratching the Middle post’s Segmented grooves (this affects feedback).
  3. While the Cloud Flash’s structure is durable, rough use over time will wear the track. Taking good care of it ensures a great hand feel for longer.
  4. When exploring the magnet mode, be sure to stick the Teflon sticker (included as an accessory) on the lower cover. It will effectively protect the magnet, reduce wear and tear, and extend its lifespan! The following is the video introduction of the Teflon sticker.

The fun of the Cloud Flash goes beyond the above it shines because there’s "no fixed play." You can try all kinds of unique combinations: replace beads with different materials, add more small magnets, or even DIY track grooves yourself. As long as you’re willing to explore, every use brings a new discovery. Grab your Cloud Flash and give it a try!
